Anyone that knows me at all or happens to read my Blogs can go to bed each night knowing that I am a politically conservative type of guy and I vote Republican. I will assure you that I am still a conservative but some things have changed. I am not a Republican.
Wake up! No, you aren’t dreaming. Let me explain…no there is too much…let me sum up:
I’m tired of both parties. With the exception of a few politicians in DC, the all need to be fired. They live in a giant void that is called the District of Columbia that does not resemble any world that the average American lives in and they vote wherever the wind takes them. Some hold their ground and actually stand for something but few can actually say that they haven’t compromised their principles for the sake of the “party” or for political expediency. FIRE THEM ALL!
Glenn Beck gave a quick checklist on how to tell if a politician needs to go. If they answer yes to any of these questions, they get voted out of office the next election cycle.
1 – You have voted to raise taxes in a recession.
2 – You have voted for any of the bailouts.
3 – Voted against protecting our borders and enforcing immigration laws.
4 – Voted against building new nuclear power/refining/clean coal energy plants.
5 – Voted to not drill in our own country, thus making us dependent of foreign oil.
6 – Apologized to other countries for the US. We are not perfect but we have done more to help the world than most other countries combined.
Now I’m sure that my readers will have lots to say about this and I invite each and every one of you to speak your mind. Tell me how your politician is different. You never know, he might be one of the few that I think should stay.
Being a politician is supposed to be about serving your country and representing the people that elected you. Control-Alt-Delete. Reboot the system. Let’s break out our Constitutions and return this country to what our founders worked so hard to establish. Either OUR representatives wake up or they go home.
This will be the first of several Blogs that introduces readers to the policy Czars that are popping up all over DC these days. This isn’t a new concept, by the way. Franklin Roosevelt (FDR) also had similar appointees but they were called “Dictators”. This was prior to WW II so the negative connotation associated with being a Dictator had not set in yet. So todays video lesson in on:
Cass Sunstein — Regulatory Czar
He is a follower of famed “Ethics” Professor at Princeton, Peter Singer. This guy is on my top 10 evil people list and I will be writing a separate Blog about him later. Watch the video and think about what they are saying. This is a great video and a gateway into several topics that will be discussed in future Blogs. Remember, these Czars have zero oversight and you are paying for them with your tax dollars. More to come folks, more to come.
Governor Rick Perry of the great state of Texas is once again making a stand against a Federal Government that continues to ignore the Constitution and try to force their will on the citizens of his state. You will recall that Governor Perry made BIG news when he refused $550 Million of the Federal stimulus because it would have caused a financial burden on his state once the Federal money ran out.
He has stated in this article (Click the picture) that he would not accept the Federal run health care program if it survives DC and is pushed to the states. He claims this right under the 10th Amendment of the Constitution. While he hopes that he can help defeat the bill before it passes in DC, he is reserving the right to refuse the plan if need be in the future.
You know, I used to like Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) but he is making it pretty hard to keep that stance these days. He is a member of the Senate Judicial Committee and he recently made some troubling remarks.
“I don’t want to turn over the confirmation of judges to special interest groups on the left or the right, and that’s where we are headed if we don’t watch,” Graham said in a Senate floor speech. “Special interest groups are important. They have their say. They have every right to have their say. But we cannot make every Supreme Court vacancy a battle over our culture.”
Here is my issue: I agree that special interest groups on both sides of the fence lobby for just about everything in Washington DC. I don’t agree with all of them and neither should anyone else. The US Supreme Court (SCOTUS) is made up of 9 individuals with life appointments. That is spelled L-I-F-E. You don’t get a take-back if you decide or discover that you made a mistake. It is very important that you get it right.
I can think of no single un-elected body that has a greater impact on our culture than the SCOTUS. So, to make the statement that every Supreme Court nominee should not be a “battle over our culture” is ridiculous. Leftards have crucified conservative appointees in the past. Participating in filibusters, character assassination through add campaigns, and generally blocked many appointees that didn’t have the same political view that they did. Robert Bork springs to mind in the recent past but a more recent example is the current Chief Justice, John Roberts. BHO voted in favor to filibuster Chief Justice Roberts so I can’t see him having much of a leg to stand on.
Judge Sotomayor is a progressive liberal with a gavel. She has sided against un-born children, claimed that the 2nd amendment didn’t apply to New York, and ruled that racial discrimination is fine, provided that the offended party is white. She is an elitist that thinks racial and gender, in here particular case, being a Latina makes here some how capable of making better decisions than those stuffy old white guys.
The SCOTUS is supposed to rule on the constitutionality of issues not decide what is good or bad for society. The citizens of each state have that right and it should not be infringed upon. Senator Graham is wrong and he will regret ever voting to support the appointment of Judge Sotomayor. Unfortunately, so will the rest of us.
I previously blogged about Alaska signing a state sovereignty bill that codifies their 10th amendment rights under the US Constitution. Glenn Beck, in his normal/humorous way, explains why this is such a good thing for not only Alaska but the United States as well.
