Is Health Care a Constitutional ‘Right’?

Congressmen John Conyers (D-MI) has stated that he will be introducing a Constitutional Amendment that will state that Health Care is a right guaranteed by the Constitution and the government will be forced to provide a plan.

This isn’t a new idea sports fans. FDR had the same idea with his second Bill of Rights in which he stated that you had a right to a job, house and education. I will be adding a clip of that speech very soon. I find it extremely troubling that the only time that most of these politicians talk about the Constitution is when they are wanting to change it.

In case there is any confusion, I will clear up the issue for you. No, the Constitution does NOT guarantee you a right to healthcare. Just like it doesn’t guarantee you a right to be happy, sad, rich, or poor. It says you have a right to “Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.” The results are up to you, not the government.
