Socialism marches on. I am sick and tired of listening to Politicians Outrage over AIG using “Their” — Read Federal — money to pay execs bonuses.  Dodd, Rangel an Frank should have enough courtesy to not opine on the subject at all.  They are implicit in this whole mess.

Now we can tax Corporate bonuses.  Great!  Your bonuses are next America. Mark my words.

I know a lot of folks don’t follow the military history of Israel but it is very interesting how the paths of many of the great soldiers cross paths decade after decade.  Check out the relations between Ehud Barak and Benjamin Netanyahu.

I had an interesting discussion today with a friend at work today concerning something as disarming as “Yes sir, Ma’am”.  Very interesting.  He believes that it is a Southern thing and his children won’t be taught to say it to adults or authority figures.  In his mind, yes and no are adequete and it isn’t necessary because it somehow means that the person that it is being said to is being considered “better” than his children.

I believe (and in full disclosure, I am a Southerner) that it just shows respect.  Policemen, teachers, Sunday School teachers….pick your favorite authority figure, it is just showing respect.  They are not better than anyone, they are just in a position of authority and deserve to be treated as such.  Our culture is ate up today with disrespect and a struggling society that has no real moral code.  Is that a broad sweeping steortype and does it have exceptions?  Yes an Yes.  Does it apply to all children, categorically no.  Specifically to the children of the person that I am referring to in this discussion.

I don’t believe that everyone’s children will end up in prison and on drugs if they don’t say yes sir/ma’am but you know, what would it hurt.  Showing respect for authority or dare a say it a little deference isn’t necessarily a bad thing and it most certainly shouldn’t be “Just a Southern” thing.  Thoughts?
