“President-Elect” Obama (Take note of the quotations, there will be a quiz later) has surpassed any previously elected president with the number of press conferences he has conducted prior to being sworn into office.  So what, right?  Wrong.  There is this fabled document that our government is supposed to emulate.  It is told of in fantasy novels from the Reagan era and in the occasional Civics class in the 80’s, the Constitution.  You Can’t make up an office because you think you are a rock star on world tour.

President-Elect is just that, elect.  Not President.  He won the election and will be President for the next four years, everyone in agreement?  My issue is that you can’t just make up the parts of our government that you want to as you go along.  He needs to focus his efforts on getting “his” (and by that I mean everyone still in politics from Bill Clinton’s terms in office) cabinet in order, getting security briefs, and preparing to assume his office January 20th.  To have pretty, little signs printed “The Office of the President Elect” and holding mock news conferences are unnecessary and more importantly harmful to our current government.  Is reminds me of the old phrase “you can’t be kinda pregnant.  You either are or you are not.”  He is President when he raises his right hand and swears to uphold and the support the Constitution (that is fundamentally flawed–his words, not mine) on January 20th.
This seems like a small point to most people but to me it screams out that the founding document of our government is considered to be open to interpretation, modified, or in some cases, completely ignored whenever someone feels it convenient.  That isn’t to say that it can’t be changed.  We have amended our Constitution several times and there is a system in place to do just that.  Until otherwise noted, however, it remains in place and we should presume that it remains the foundation of our government.
Senator Obama will have amble opportunity to be the President.  How about he let the current administration do their job and then he can come galloping in on his Unicorn with guns blazing (or with a really stern letter) on January 2oth to save us all from ourselves.

I wanted to include a dialogue about the ongoing debate (although the people of California have spoken) about Gay marriage from my family site, www.baleeclan.com.  It is important to mention that this isn’t a California problem.  It is happening all over the United States and the world marches steadily on.   There has been a good response to this comment.  I ask the previous bloggers to contribute more, here.  More to follow.

My original post:

As previously mentioned, I was not real happy with the results of the most recent election for the office of the President of the United States.  But, as with all things in life, there is some good news from this election cycle.  Proposition 8 successfully passed in California.  This legislation amended the California constitution to define marriage between one man and one women.  This, in direct rebuttal to the constant judicial activism of the 9th Circuit court of appeal in San Francisco, was a small piece of good news from a world that seems to be slowly drifting into a world of moral decay.

I can hear the liberals screaming now…”who are you to define what is wrong or right?”  I would ask “who is the 9th circuit to constantly rule from their judicial, ivory thrones to mandate what is right and wrong for the people of California?”  The people have spoken.  Why do liberals only think the right to freedom of speech is ok, provided you are in agreement with them?  Congratulations California.  Hold Fast!  The 9th Circuit is coming to a town near you.

Have you ever heard that old saying, “if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and sounds like a duck, it is a duck?”  Well, I came across an article about a women in Florida who went into an abortion clinic to have an abortion.  It failed and the baby was born alive.  That is the end, right?  Oh no!  The “nurse” performing the procedure took the baby and put it in a biohazard bag and poured bleach on it.  She then proceeded to the top of the abortion clinic and left the bag, with the baby still in it, to die.

Now I ask you, is there anything about this story that makes sense?  First and foremost, that child deserved to live no matter what the mother wanted.  The idea that someone can choose to terminate a life because they just don’t want it is murder.  Yes, murder.  It isn’t that simple, right? Who am I to tell a woman what she can do with her body?  What about if she was raped or incest? How about if her health is in danger?  Murder, murder, murder, murder.  Remember the duck question above?  Looks, walks talks like…?
There are many arguments when it comes to abortion.  I think they all fall short and the welfare of the baby needs to be first.  Through the wonders of modern medicine, they now know what causes pregnancy.  If you don’t want a baby, don’t make one.  I can think of no greater indication of the state of a society than how we treat our children.  That includes the unborn.  The nurse that murdered that precious child should be brought to justice and charged with murder.
If anyone is interested, I will post the link for this article later.

Hello again.  I have decided to move my various ramblings and incredible (due to the fact that any of it makes sense) Blog to a separate site.  A couple of my early visitors, thank you, have had trouble posting and I have heard good things about blogger.  Amy and I will continue to update the family website, baleeclan.com, regularly but I will be doing my blogging here.  Please let me know what you think.

Remember, I don’t have to agree with you but I still want to hear from you.  See you in the Blog.
